Shrimad Rajchandra Institute of Management and Computer Application had organized
4 days IBM Rational Team Concert V3.0 Certification Workshop from 24th August, 2013
to 27th August, 2013. The 4 days certification workshop was conducted by Mr. Vinod
Patidar and Mr. Yogesh Sharma. Total 75 students and 9 faculty members attended
this certification workshop.
Day 1 (24th August 2013)
Mr. Vinod Patidar explained IBM RTC Certification Examination and its importance.
He started by explaining the meaning of "Rational" as well as importance of "Team
work". He explained Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) phases such as Planning,
Project Initiation, Feasibility study and Requirement analysis, Design, Coding,
Testing, Deployment and Maintenance. He provided detailed explanation on various
SDLC models such as Waterfall, Iteration, Rational Unified Process (RUP) and Agile.
Also discuss in which situation which model is suitable. He provided introduction
of Jazz as well as practically shown Jazz server installation. In this session students
performed hands on Jazz server installation in lab.
Day 2 (25th August 2013)
On second day Mr. Vinod Patidar started with summary of topics covered on first
day. He started the session with discussion on how the traditional software development
process is different from agile methodology. He told students that Rational Team
Concert supports both traditional and agile planning methodologies. He discussed
the meaning of project related terminology such as artifacts, deliverable, phase,
iteration, planning, and project lifecycle. Also gave an importance of stakeholders
in project. He explained best practices for project planning. Gave detailed explanation
on project planning methodologies in which he has discussed traditional approach,
iterative approach and agile approach as well as how these approaches are differ.
In traditional approach, he explained phases such as Requirements, Design, Implementation,
Verification and Maintenance. In iterative approach, he explained phases such as
Inception, Elaboration, Construction and Transition. In this session students completed
hands on project creation and planning in lab.
Day 3 (26th August 2013)
On third day Mr. Vinod Patidar started with revision of topics covered on second
day. He explained in detail of agile approach and fundamental of Scrum as the agile
process. He gave clarity about the concept of story points, prioritized requirements,
initial scheduling and scrum process. He provided a detailed explanation on process
templates with iteration structure, roles, permissions, work item types and queries.
He explained types of process templates such as formal project management process
template and scrum template.
Day 4 (27th August 2013)
Mr. Vinod Patidar covered project area related basic terminologies such as repository,
project area, team area, work item category, timeline, iteration etc. He provided
a detailed explanation on project area elements such as identity of the project
area, access control, process and project area configuration, roles for project
and team members, project members and administrators, team area and team members,
work item categories, releases, project timeline and iterations. In this session
students completed hands on setting up a project area in lab. At last he has given
some exercises to the students and solved whatever problems raised by students.
Also discusses few sample questions with students to prepare for certification examination.
Mr. Yogesh Sharma has played a vital role during training session. He was always
with attendees to solve their hands on lab related problems.
During the 4 days certification workshop, all attendees got conceptual and practical
knowledge with great enthusiasm.
