“Each
Living Being Has Been Gifted Spirituality, The Need
Is To Get Acquainted With It And to Nurture It.”
“A
society grows great when old men plant trees whose shade
they know they shall never sit in.”
[A
German Proverb]
Trees
enrich our lives, reassure us with the rustle of their
leaves, give us shade to soothe our bodies, bring delight
to us when we watch bird’s nest in their boughs.
They give us food, fuel, fruits, flowers, homes and
musical instruments.
Because
they are primeval and outlive us, trees seem to emanate
a sense of permanence. Though rooted in earth, they
seem to touch the sky. For these reasons we feel; if
only we could read their silence we should learn some
secret vital to our own lives.
It
is said: “He who plants trees, plants a hope.”
And “He that plants trees loves others beside
himself.”
“Champa
Tree” symbolizes “psychological Perfection”;
the five petals of the flower stand for sincerity, faith,
devotion, aspiration and surrender.
It
is the general significance given for all plumerias
and also for two specific flowers. One is predominantly
yellow with a white edge and the other a very fragrant
white flower with five rounded petals and a large yellow
center.
“Yellow
Gulmohar” is the symbol of service to the Divine
and is called “The Service Tree.” It has
small fragrant yellow flowers with five separated delicately
crinkled petals and exerted stamens; the sepals and
base with rust colour, borne in large termonial panicles,
a medium to large ornamental tree.
“Red Gulmohar” symbolizing “Realization”
has large striking pale, orange to deep red flowers
with four widely separated clawed petals and one large
petal i.e. white to cream or yellow splashed with red
and orange red, borne in terminal corymbs, a beautiful
spreading tree of medium size.
“Neem
Tree” symbolizes “The Spiritual Atmosphere”;
that is light, fluid, clear, and transparent. It has
tiny fragrant white star-shaped flowers with a narrow
corona; borne in airy panicles, a medium sized tree
with dense foliage.
