EDUCATION – A WINDOW, NOT A MIRROR…! | |
Mr. Nirav Parekh FYMBA, Student Sometimes questions arise in my mind that, had I really taken the education for number of years in my life? The certificates that I got, are they really showing that I have got education in true sense? Such questions become intensive when I read thoughts of great personalities of this world.
Albert Einstein says…. If we would think deeply over it then we would find that there is difference between education and expertness; learned man and an educated person. There is no scarcity of expertness in the world. We can find many experts in the fields of business management, technology, sciences like biology, physics, chemistry etc. They can solve most of problems in their fields, but is there any guarantee that they would all be good citizens of the country? Good parents, good son or daughter? Are they personalities of bright character also? No….because we are witnessing that biggest blunders are done by such people in the world. These criminals are proved most dangerous to the world, for example one of the biggest terrorists was chemical engineer from the one of the best universities of the world. Then what is the meaning of such so called education? What should be the aim of the education? Bill Beattie says: Formal education system should provide value education by which student would have self awareness. Education system should not only emphasis on how to make a living but also on how to make a fortune. Student should be provided platform by which they can be physically, mentally, intellectually and spiritually strong. Student’s conscience should be developed through education before they become expert in particular field otherwise they would use their expertness in wrong way. Student’s role is also very important in getting education.
We would understand this from a Chinese proverb-
Student should have strong desire that he wants value education, and then only bright character would be developed by education. We can find the height of the aim of education in its following definition.
