SRIMCA Nature Club is a body which not only reveals the NATURE-intensive attitude of its members, but what it does more is to make others realize the importance of NATURE-CONSERVANCE in life to everyone. It consists of students of SRIMCA who voluntarily accepts their responsibility towards the role of a human being in protecting MOTHER-NATURE. And very sincerely all the children of MOTHER-NATURE, who are aware enough with her current situation, do their best of the efforts towards saving her from some of her naughty children who have forgotten the importance of her cleanliness.

# Snake Training Programme

 1. On 20-Aug-04:

The current scenario all over the world is that the awareness towards snakes really needs to be built up among common people. And as is the case with anywhere in INDIA is, just kill the snake as u see it, even without confirming whether it is venomous or not. And thus, some species of snake in INDIA are in danger. So, as one of the activities, SRIMCA Nature Club intends to spread this awareness first among the members and eventually in the whole society. So for that, it was necessary to make members aware with the species of snakes, which are venomous and which are not, their characteristics, their habitats, etc. So, it was an introductory seminar presented by Mr. Harsh Pandit, student of MCA.

2. On 27-Aug-04:

This day, members were made contact with real snakes. The snakes observed on this day were

1) Rat Snake,

2) Checkered Kill-back Snake

3) Indian Python

The members observed the patterns these snakes have, the shape of their head, etc., which together make a set of characteristics that are necessary to recognize the particular species.

3.  On 10-Sep-04:

This was another session involving snake identification. The snakes observed that day were

1)     Indian Python

2)     Rat Snake

3)     Russell’s Viper Snake

Along with that, MR. Viral Prajapati and Mr. Deep Shah, members of SURAT NATURE CLUB, conducted a seminar and slideshow about the expedition they made on the mountains of Himalayas named Gangotri Peaks G1, G2, and G3. They gave instructions on what are the prerequisites for such expeditions, what preparations has to be made before leaving, what cautions to be observed, etc.

# Debate & Snake Training Programme on 08-Oct-04:

A debate on “whether the uses of animals like rats, rabbits, monkeys, frogs, etc. in experimentation in the area of cosmetic and pharmacy should be legally banned or not “ was held. Along with that, members were made familiar with a different kind of snake called “ Green Vine Snake”.

  # Upcoming Activity:

SRIMCA Nature Club further plans to hold skits and plays in the schools of surrounding areas and to arrange “Bicycle-Expedition” as well as “Jungle Camping” in the areas of Dangs. By conducting skits and plays in schools, the intention is to make children familiar with the need to preserve nature and become aware about the hazards towards the nature.
