Mental Health: Tips

Miss. Preety Mathur

Try following tips for mental health.

1.      Your Thoughts and Your Health

Many physical ailments are due to your negative thinking nature. I suggest that you never say out loud to yourself such phrases as "I feel a cold coming on", "itīs flu season and I always get it", or "I always have the worst luck". You attract what you think about all day long. Think thoughts of health and you will find yourself getting sick less and less. This is how your mental health and spirituality are connected.

2.      Find Happiness Within

One technique for overcoming anger or any negative emotion is to change your physiology. The next time you are feeling angry try putting a smile on your face and tilt your head up a bit. Spread out your fingers (do not let them become clenched) and lay down if possible. You cannot maintain an angry composure for long with the physiology of a happy person.

3.      The Power of Choice

Any time something happens in your life that causes you to feel anger or hate you can, at that moment, choose otherwise. No one or one thing can get you angry without your permission. Your are the boss over thoughts and perceptions of events. The first step is to catch yourself in the process of becoming angry, and then tell yourself you can choose otherwise. If you follow through with your anger do not condemn yourself. There is always the next time or the next time to conquer this habit. Habits are overcome one step at a time.

4.      Reducing stress in relationships

People in general can be a great cause of anger in your life. When someone does or says something that raises your blood pressure think of a big, black cloud encircling your heart, lungs, and other vital organs. Take a deep breath and ask yourself if what is angering you will matter a month or a year from now. Then ask yourself how much your health is worth. Would you give up your heart or lungs for a million dollars? In essence that is what you are doing every time you CHOOSE to let someone upset you.
