Four days Certification Workshop on IBM DB2 Fundamentals (302A), Date: 24th to 27th August 2013
Shrimad Rajchandra Institute of Management and Computer Application had organized 4 days DB2 - 9 Fundamentals (302A) Certification Workshop during 24-27 August 2013. The objective of the certification workshop was to provide an exposure to current trends in IT Industry, through IBM Academic Initiative. As part of IBM Academic Initiative, total 96 Students and 8 faculties benefited through this training program.
The objective behind the training is to polish student's skill before they become part of the industry. During the four days, participants got in-depth knowledge of IBM's flagship Relational Database Product DB2.
Day 1 (24th August 2013)
Mr. Amish Patel explained the various levels of DB2 Certification Examination and its importance. Initial discussion had spread awareness about various industry certifications among students. He started with the first topic "The Relational Model", Comparison of various models and in-depth discussion on relational model was carried out in first session. In the second session he explained various DB2 fundamentals and Data Studio. In the third session he explained working with databases and various database objects. In the last session Mr. Amish Patel introduced Structured Query Language. On first day students performed hands on labs on IBM Data Studio and working with databases and various database objects.
Day 2 (25th August 2013)
On second day Ms. Jikitsha Sheth started with revision of topics covered on first day. First session was conducted on Introduction to SQL and Database Objects, and gave some query based Exercises on tables to the students on concepts like constraints, join, group by, having clause, etc. Second session was conducted on database transactions and concurrency; she explained basic concepts and importance of transaction, various locks and isolation levels supported by DB2. On second day students completed hands on labs of concurrency, queries, etc.
Day 3 (26th August 2013)
On 3rd day Ms. Priti Prajapati started with revision of topics covered on second day. In the first session she explained DB2 backup and recovery functionality. On second day students completed hands on labs of backup and recovery. In the second session Ms. Chetna Tailor has discussed about Troubleshooting. In third session Ms. Jikitsha Sheth discussed about DB2 programming fundamentals. She explained overall approach of DB2 programming and how to work with embedded SQL.
Day 4(27th August 2013)
On forth day Mr. Dharmendra Bhatti had explained how to implement security in DB2, he talked about authentication and authorization. Further he also explained how to authorize using concepts of authorities and privileges. In second session Mr. Dharmendra Bhatti explained DB2 PureXML, he discussed what is XML, its importance, well-formed verses valid XML documents, XPATH, XQuery, SQL/XML, etc. On the last day students had performed hands on lab of DB2 pure XML and programming fundamental and DB2 Security.
During the four days training session all the students enjoyed the lectures and lab sessions very much. Student got the conceptual and practical knowledge with great enthusiasm. Participants got knowledge in depth and simultaneously shaped up for certification examination.
Four days Certification Workshop on IBM Rational Team Concert V3.0, Date: 24th to 27th August 2013
Shrimad Rajchandra Institute of Management and Computer Application had organized 4 days IBM Rational Team Concert V3.0 Certification Workshop from 24th August, 2013 to 27th August, 2013. The 4 days certification workshop was conducted by Mr. Vinod Patidar and Mr. Yogesh Sharma. Total 75 students and 9 faculty members attended this certification workshop.
Day 1 (24th August 2013)
Mr. Vinod Patidar explained IBM RTC Certification Examination and its importance. He started by explaining the meaning of "Rational" as well as importance of "Team work". He explained Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) phases such as Planning, Project Initiation, Feasibility study and Requirement analysis, Design, Coding, Testing, Deployment and Maintenance. He provided detailed explanation on various SDLC models such as Waterfall, Iteration, Rational Unified Process (RUP) and Agile. Also discuss in which situation which model is suitable. He provided introduction of Jazz as well as practically shown Jazz server installation. In this session students performed hands on Jazz server installation in lab.
Day 2 (25th August 2013)
On second day Mr. Vinod Patidar started with summary of topics covered on first day. He started the session with discussion on how the traditional software development process is different from agile methodology. He told students that Rational Team Concert supports both traditional and agile planning methodologies. He discussed the meaning of project related terminology such as artifacts, deliverable, phase, iteration, planning, and project lifecycle. Also gave an importance of stakeholders in project. He explained best practices for project planning. Gave detailed explanation on project planning methodologies in which he has discussed traditional approach, iterative approach and agile approach as well as how these approaches are differ. In traditional approach, he explained phases such as Requirements, Design, Implementation, Verification and Maintenance. In iterative approach, he explained phases such as Inception, Elaboration, Construction and Transition. In this session students completed hands on project creation and planning in lab.
Day 3 (26th August 2013)
On third day Mr. Vinod Patidar started with revision of topics covered on second day. He explained in detail of agile approach and fundamental of Scrum as the agile process. He gave clarity about the concept of story points, prioritized requirements, initial scheduling and scrum process. He provided a detailed explanation on process templates with iteration structure, roles, permissions, work item types and queries. He explained types of process templates such as formal project management process template and scrum template.
Day 4 (27th August 2013)
Mr. Vinod Patidar covered project area related basic terminologies such as repository, project area, team area, work item category, timeline, iteration etc. He provided a detailed explanation on project area elements such as identity of the project area, access control, process and project area configuration, roles for project and team members, project members and administrators, team area and team members, work item categories, releases, project timeline and iterations. In this session students completed hands on setting up a project area in lab. At last he has given some exercises to the students and solved whatever problems raised by students. Also discusses few sample questions with students to prepare for certification examination.
Mr. Yogesh Sharma has played a vital role during training session. He was always with attendees to solve their hands on lab related problems.
During the 4 days certification workshop, all attendees got conceptual and practical knowledge with great enthusiasm.
100% Result in IBM Certified Associate System Administrator Lotus Notes and Domino 8 (LOT-847) Certification Examination, Date: 01st April 2011
SRIMCA has organized four Days Certification Training Program on IBM Certified Associate System Administrator Lotus Notes and Domino 8 Certification (LOT-847) from 11-14 March 2011.

The objective of the certification workshop is to provide an exposure to current trends in IT Industry, through IBM Academic Initiative. The 3 days certification workshop was conducted by Mr. Dharmendra Bhatti, Associate Professor, SRIMCA. As part of IBM Academic Initiative, total 59 Students benefited through this training program.

Day 1 (22nd March 2011)

In discussion of deadlock trainer has invited two students on the stage and demonstrated how deadlock occurs and its consequences. In the second session Mr. Dharmendra has explain how to implement security in DB2. He has talked about authentication and authorization. Further he also explained how to authorize using concepts of authorities and privileges. In the last session trainer has explained DB2 backup and recovery functionality. On second day students completed hands on labs of concurrency, security, backup and recovery.
Day 3 (24th March 2011)
On last day Mr. Dharmendra has started with revision of topics covered on second day. In the first session he explained DB2 PureXML. He discussed what is XML, its importance, welformed verses valid XML documents, XPATH, XQuery, SQL/XML etc. In the second session Mr. Dharmendra has discusses about DB2 programming fundamentals. He explained overall approach of DB2 programming and how to work with embedded SQL. In the third session trainer has discussed about certification process. All the participants have completed registration on http://ibt.prometric.com/ibm. Students were very curious about certification examination. Trainer has satisfied their all queries related to examination. On the last day students have performed hands on lab of DB2 pure XML and programming fundamentals.
During the three days training session all the students enjoyed the lectures and lab sessions very much. Student got the conceptual and practical knowledge with great enthusiasm. Participants got knowledge in depth and simultaneously shaped up for certification examination.
Four days Training Program on IBM Lotus Notes Domino 8 System Admin Operating Fundamentals(LOT-847), Date: 11th to 14th March 2011
Shrimad Rajchandra Institute of Management and Computer Application has organized 4 days IBM Lotus Notes Domino 8 System Admin Operating Fundamentals (LOT-847) training program during 11-14 March 2011. The objective of the training program is to provide an exposure to IBM Lotus Notes Domino System Administration through IBM Academic Initiative.
The 4 days training program was conducted by the corporate trainers Mr. Kunal Bhagat, Webtek Labs Pvt Ltd, New Delhi. As part of IBM Academic Initiative, total 65 Students and 3 faculty members benefited through this training program.
The training program has shapeup students for the role of system admin. During the four days, participants got in-depth knowledge of IBM Lotus Notes Domino System Administration.

Day 2 (12th March 2011)
Mr. Kunal conducted the following topics on second day: Installation and Configuration, Platform Support, Demo, Lab. Trainer has demonstrated installation and configuration with step by step explanation. Followed by this students have also performed installation and configuration of Lotus Domino.
Day 3 (13th March 2011)
Mr. Kunal discussed the following points on Sunday: Lotus Domino Security, Managing and Maintaining Domino Infrastructure, Lotus Domino Mail Routing, Lotus Domino Replication, and Demo and Lab. He has discussed about Hierarchical Naming, Domino Security Model, Various Access Control Mechanism in Domino, and Database Security Levels.
Day 4 (14th March 2011)
Mr. Kunal discussed the following topics on last day: Domino and DB2 Integration, Extending Lotus Domino Environment, Monitoring and Troubleshooting. Mr. Kunal has explain how to enables Notes applications, Why Domino & DB2, two supported configurations for Domino and DB2: local or remote, etc.
During the four days training session participants enjoyed the lectures and lab sessions very much. Student got the conceptual and practical knowledge, with pleasant smiling trainer throughout all sessions. The trainer was very friendly with participants. He prefers knowledge sharing along with classroom teaching.

Shrimad Rajchandra Institute of Management and Computer Application and SRIMCA IT club has organized 3 days DB2 - 9 Fundamentals (730) training program during 11-13 March 2010. The objective of the training program was to provide an exposure to current trends in IT Industry, through IBM Academic Initiative.
The 3 days training program was conducted by the corporate trainers Mr. Rajib Mondal, Vinsys IT Services, Pune. As part of IBM Academic Initiative, total 102 Students benefited through this training program.
The training program was a perfect example of fun while you learn. During the three days, participants got in-depth knowledge of IBM's flagship Relational Database Product DB2.
Day 1 (11th March 2010)
Mr. Dharmendra Bhatti, co-ordinator of the training program, delivered his welcome address. Participant students have welcome Mr. Rajib with flowers and invite to start the training. Mr. Rajib explained the various levels of DB2 Certification Examination and its importance. He has shared following points:
Section 1 - Working with Databases and Database Objects
- Ability to identify and connect to DB2 servers and databases
- Ability to identify DB2 objects
- Knowledge of basic characteristics and properties of DB2 objects
- Given a DDL SQL statement, knowledge to identify results (ability to create objects)
Section 2 - Planning
- Knowledge of restricting data access
- Knowledge of the features or functions available in DB2 tools (just tools that come with product - distributed space - i.e., control center, configuration advisor, configuraiton assistant, command line processor)
- Knowledge database workloads (OLTP vs warehousing)
- Knowledge of non-relational data concepts (extenders)
- Knowledge of XML data implications (non-shreading)
Day 2 (12th March 2010)
Mr. Rajib conducted the following topics on second day.
Section 3 - Working with DB2 Data using SQL
- Given a DML SQL statement, knowledge to identify results
- Ability to use SQL to SELECT data from tables
- Ability to use SQL to SORT or GROUP data
- Ability to use SQL to UPDATE, DELETE, or INSERT data
- Knowledge of transactions (i.e., commit/rollback and transaction boundaries)
- Ability to call a procedure or invoke a user defined function
- Given an XQuery statement, knowledge to identify results
Section 4 - Security
- Knowledge of DB2 products (client, server, etc.)
- Knowledge of different privileges and authorities
- Knowledge of encryption options (data and network)
- Given a DDL SQL statement, knowledge to identify results (grant/revoke/connect statements)
Day 3 (13th March 2010)
Mr. Rajib discussed the following points on third day.
Section 5 - Working with DB2 Tables, Views and Indexes
- Ability to demonstrate usage of DB2 data types
- Given a situation, ability to create table
- Knowledge to identify when referential integrity should be used
- Knowledge to identify methods of data constraint
- Knowledge to identify characteristics of a table, view or index
- Knowledge to identify when triggers should be used
- Knowledge of schemas
- Knowledge of data type options for storing XML data
Section 6 - Data Concurrency
- Knowledge to identify factors that influence locking
- Ability to list objects on which locks can be obtained
- Knowledge to identify characteristics of DB2 locks
- Given a situation, knowledge to identify the isolation levels that should be used

Four days IBM Rational Application Developer Certification Workshop, Date: 15th to 18th February 2010
Shrimad Rajchandra Institute of Management and Computer Application and SRIMCA IT club has organized four days IBM RAD Certification Workshop during 15-18 February 2010. The objective of the training program was to provide an exposure to current trends in IT Industry, through IBM Academic Initiative. This workshop has prepared participants for IBM Certified Associate Developer (Test - 255).
The four days workshop was conducted by the corporate trainer Mr. Kapil Kulkarni from System Consultants, Pune. Mr. Kapil Kulkarni is an IBM Certified for WebSphere 6.1 and Rational Application Developer 6.0 has an experience of more than 8 years into various sectors of IT industries like development, consultancy, and training. He has conducted corporate training and consultancy for renowed IT houses like IBM, Wipro, TechM, Amdocs, Cognizant, Satyam, L&T.
The training program was an excellent blend of conceptual knowledge and practical implementation. During the four days, participants of the program got in-depth knowledge of IBM's Rational Application Developer. 57 Students and 10 faculty members of SRIMCA attended the workshop.

Service Oriented Architecture Certification Workshop in Association with IBM, Date: 25th November, 2007
The SOA Certification Workshop organized by SRIMCA in association with IBM addressed on how to build and grow a successful career in Information Technology.
The objective of the workshop was to train the participants to gain good understanding of SOA concepts and how can be applied to an enterprise. It was helpful to identify business functions where SOA can improve competitiveness and productivity, understand the business case for SOA and the architecture, organizational change and infrastructure investments that are required to deliver ROI. It helped participants especially IT Professionals, Business Analysts, Service Designers, Faculties and Students of all branches of Engineering, M.C.A, B.C.A, M.Sc. (Computer Science & IT) & B.Sc. (Computer Science) to advance their career with SOA challenges.
Mr. Vikas Manoria, IT-Expert, IBM Academic Initiative who is involved with Goal Driven SOA, delivered his experience to the delegates. As the workshop was fully dedicated for the certification - IBM Certified SOA Associate, 7 delegates cleared in the Certification Program. Around 82 delegates were registered and 75 were selected for appear the Certification Exam. 2 delegates from SRIMCA, which includes Mr. Mohsin Hasim Mansur(SYMCA student) and Mr. Lal Bihari Barik, Asst. Professor has been certified as SOA Associate by IBM.
Workshop on "IBM-TSM Express", Date: 31st August 2nd September 2007
SRIMCA organized a 3-Day Workshop on "IBM TSM Express" during 31st Aug. - 2nd Sep., 2007 in association with IBM, Delhi.
The objective of the workshop was to train the participants according to the latest advancement that is taking place in the field of information technology such as solutions on IT Infrastructure Backup, Disaster Recovery, Monitoring, and Mailing & other Business related Information Security.
About 100 delegates were participated in the workshop. Hon. Dr. R. G. Kothari, Vice-Chancellor, Veer Narmad South Gujarat University, Mr. Devkant Aggarwal Relationship Manager - IBM Academic Initiative address the delegates how to meet the Industry challenges. Mr. Prashant Pokarna, ZenSOFT Services, described the major function of TSM Express, key concepts integral to TSM product, Installation of Backup Client/Server Software, described how the file versions/spaces are managed, Managing Media copy schedules, Restoring Data for Computer/application, Managing Libraries, Monitoring Backups and the Backups Server Security and Trouble Shooting TSM Express including hands on practical session. The workshop helped participants especially students to work directly with the IT experts during this workshop.
